Finding Your Voice: Youth Workshop

‘Finding Your Voice’ was a creative workshop organised by the MO-TRAYL project to give back to some of the young participants who had contributed so much to our research, and to share their stories on growing up transnationally with the public. Organised by Prof. Valentina Mazzucato and the MO-TRAYL team, and with the inspiring contributions of Ghanaian writer Franka Andoh, the workshop brought together 11 participants from the European fieldsites (Belgium, Germany and The Netherlands) to ‘find their voice.’ The workshop took place from June 28 to July 1, 2019, at Chateau Bethlehem, in Maastricht, The Netherlands.

Throughout the workshop, the participants received training on creative writing, interviewing and podcasts. They produced their own written and audio stories about their transnational experiences, and recorded interviews with each other about their lives, their stories, and what they learned at the workshop. Besides all the creative hard work, we also relaxed together with fun activities such as a walking tour of Maastricht, cycling, and games, making this event a memorable one for our attendees.
