MO-TRAYL PhD researcher, Laura Ogden, presented ‘Greatness Awaits: How transnational young Ghanaians in Hamburg leverage English into educational capital’ at the 2019 European Conference on Educational Research (ECER) in Hamburg.

Laura’s presentation shared emerging findings from her fieldwork in Hamburg about how young people who grow up between Ghana and Germany use their English language skills to bolster their performance in the German school system. The presentation was part of the panel organized by Prof. Sara Fürstenau and Prof. Sylvia Kesper-Biermann on ‘Negotiating Language Legitimacies in Transnational Educational Spaces: Institutional and Individual Perspectives.’
